I’m planting even more stuff in the garden: four Purple Beauty sweet peppers and two Roma tomato plants. That brings the total to slightly less than insane. Only a few more green tomatoes and I’m officially done!

Just ran the numbers for Garden 2009 and if we have a fairly productive year we can break even. Granted this relies upon a highly productive 128 sq/ft plot and no supplemental production from my satellite fields. Going to hedge my bets and set the rest of these seedlings and maybe a couple of rows of last year’s corn variety.
RIP David Poole, one of the few NASCAR columnists who told it like it was.

Two Guys In A Garage Invent Bacon Salt, Quit Their... →
Justin Esch and Dave Lefkow built upon the simple idea that “everything should taste like bacon” and created Bacon Salt, subsequently quit their day jobs. Ahh, the delicious American dream!

Not quite a LOLCAT but what the hell. I’ve heard of throwing in the towel in the face of defeat but this is ridiculous.

The Pirate Bay - Guilty as Charged →
Arrr… founders go down with the ship. But as they state the servers are no longer in Sweden so it’s unlikely this will take down the most notorious hub of scum and villainy on the high-bit torrent-seas.

12 Gauge shot glasses →
As seen on Boing Boing. Nothing says “Redneck Party” like a set of shot glasses shaped like 12 gauge shotgun shells. I can only imagine the new slang for everyday shots. Jägermeister = Buckshot?

Ron Dennis steps down from F1 team McLaren →
Who’d have thunk it? Rumor has it Dennis was planning his exit for sometime, however my gut tells me that the Melbourne fiasco and “discussion” with Anthony Hamilton forced the issue.

If Everyone Is Broke, Is There Still A Class... →
Cruise ships, the last bastion of those middle class folks who want to claw their way to a luxury, gourmet experience. While some folks dream of high class living, people like me simply long to sail the high seas. Ok, so we also want to drink and party and not have to worry about the cops or costly cab rides home. It’s a win-win for the pauper 007 wanna-be.

“Glenn Beck holds his tea party in the only location that makes sense: the Alamo”.
Seriously, can this Republican outrage thing get any sillier. It’s time to get these TV-whore blowhards off the airwaves and produce some real leadership. Otherwise the mid-term election is going to be “more of the same”.

Destroyer Vs. Lifeboat...Destroyer Wins →
The 9,400-ton Arleigh Burke destroyer USS Bainbridge plus two smaller escorts vs a small pirate craft is no contest. However it may become a necessary step to prevent a further escalation of ship taking off the coast of Somalia.

The old men tell me not to plant before the end of April. Sounds good, but who told them? I hope they aren’t listening to that furry little furry bastard, because I’d hate to be the one who gunned down Punxsutawney Phil for climbing in my planter box.

Big Cuts Seen for F-22, Other Big Weapon Programs →
Robert Gates takes the ax to the ole girl. F22, missile defense and a bunch of other boondoggles are square in his sights. Apparently “bomb hunting robots” are on the cutting block, though I have no idea how canceling that is supposed to help the hunt for insurgents.

Hospitals' Electronic Wasteland →
Stimulus funds aim to change a system largely devoid of in-depth electronic record keeping. The system is still dreadfully inefficient and nothing short of and IT revolution is going to change that.

"Lancing the f***ing boil": how digital killed... →
A trip down memory lane and a cautionary tale. A new book sums up how the music industry, flush with cash and self-righteousness missed the digital revolution and have been paying for it ever since.
